Rear end modifications

I decided to chop the stock 71' CB350 frame to make this bike a solo rider motorcycle. The rear loop of the frame was cut and shortened to fit a smaller solo style seat. I made the seat pan out of a thin gauge mild steel I had laying around the garage. Since the rear of the frame was cut I had to make a new mounting point for the CL350 scrambler exhaust. A new bracket was made out of some steel plate that I heated up and bent with the help of some heat and a hammer. The new exhaust bracket was then welded to the frame at the rear triangle.

Next I wanted to make a battery cover. If you look in the first photo you can see how the battery is visible right under seat and I thought the text and white battery was an unwanted visual distraction when looking at the bike.  A battery cover was made out of thin steel. While making it I cut a lightning bolt out of the same gauge metal. I mainly did this to practice my welding by welding the lighting bolt onto the battery cover and going around the whole thing. I then would go back and smooth out those welds so the lightening bolt was less noticable. Good practice so it was well worth it. I also took off the stock CB350 bars and put some triumph bars on there. The bars are more of dirt tracker look. I think it gives the CB a more aggressive look (Sort of like a BMX trail rider would have) while giving it more leverage and easier handling. I got some new tires at Cycle Visions to replace the ones that had been on the bike since I got it.

At this point of the build I have also added some bondo to the gas tank to get rid of some dents that had been on there. I also re-sealed the inside of the tank.
