VILLAGE CULT

We went to our first vintage van meet up, Vans & Coffee. It took place on Fiesta Island in San Diego, CA.

We weren’t sure if it was a BYOC (Bring Your Own Coffee) situation so the day of we got the family up early, made some coffee and met up with a friend before heading over to Fiesta Island.

If you’re not familiar with Fiesta Island it is a large area which consists of mostly dirt and sand, day camping, fire pits, off leash dog area, bicycle route, horses, and beach access. It is also the home to fun yearly events like Over-the-line. The restrooms are porta potties and vehicle parking is wherever you like off the main road which circles the island. It’s a fun place!

After arriving at Fiesta Island we cruised around until spotting a few cool old vans lined up. We parked next to the other vans and opened all the doors so anyone who was curious could look inside.

It’s always nerve wracking meeting a new group of people but meeting our fellow vanners was a breeze. Everyone was so welcoming and excited to share all the work done on their vans. One of the vanners even brought coffee and donuts for everyone!

Each van was interesting. They all have a different layout, cool details and the features vary according to each owners preference. It was really awesome getting to see the different stages of each van build.

We’ve been on a small hiatus with our van build but after meeting everyone and being inspired by their awesome vans we’re fired up and ready to start making her into our dream van.

We definitely will be back for the next meetup and can’t wait to see everyone’s progress. Below are photos we took at the meetup, hope you enjoy.
